Luke was born and raised on the family farm established in 1897 by his great-great grandfather just outside of Mena, in the community of Ink. A 5th generation farmer and hunter, Luke loves this area for all it has to offer to farmers, families and sportsmen alike.
Luke is a graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture. He is married to Deedee, a 4th generation Polk County resident. In 2015 the Alston’s decided to leave their corporate jobs to farm full-time. Holly Springs Homestead was born from this decision. In 2017, the family was honored as the Arkansas Farm Family of the Year – the first time a family from Western Arkansas received this recognition. The farm consisted of livestock, hay, vegetables, berries and agritourism. In 2018, Luke was selected the Swisher Sweets Southeast Expo Farmer of the Year from Arkansas.
Luke and Deedee began their real estate education with the recommendation of some long time friends and neighbors who were in the real estate business. Thinking they would do it part time to supplement the farm was the original goal but it became quickly apparent that God had a different plan for each of them. The opportunity to sell off the poultry farm presented itself and the Alston’s made the decision to become full time Realtors and have not looked back!!
For Luke, being a REALTOR is a great extension of his love of the land. With a lifetime of experience, he is able to help clients with a knowledge of land use/improvement, pasture and livestock management, vegetable/berry production and wildlife management to create their own successful farm, homestead or wildlife oasis. His agriculture background provides him with many contacts across the state which allows him to be a great resource to his real estate clients. “We are so blessed that our farm customers, who have placed faith in us over the years, are now our real estate clients and continue to place great trust in our ability to work hard for them, from finding a property they love all the way to closing”.
In the fall of 2023, Luke earned his Accredited Land Consultant (ALC) designation through the Realtor Land Institute (RLI). Luke serves as an Area Vice President for the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association and is a board member of both Polk County Cattlemen’s Association and Polk County Farm Bureau.
Luke’s love of helping people motivates him to go the extra mile for his clients and makes the decision to become a REALTOR one he only wishes he had made sooner!
